WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR GULET CRUISE?

Gulet Exper Helps You Plan!

Such simple question, but yet not so easy to explain. Our Mediterranean cruise season starts in the summer months, just as many others do. Why is so? Well, our focus is in the summertime because then you can enjoy the endless sun, sandy beaches,  explore breathtakingly beautiful coastal cities, islands, villages. Or you can just sit outdoor in restaurants while enjoining in local traditional food. So now I think you understand our reasons for opening season in summer months.

The second thing I have to point out is that the best time to cruise is not always the same as the cheapest time to cruise. Naturally, the best time and most popular time to be on gulet cruise are often when the weather is nicest and when you have time off from the work. However, I’ll explain in more details what are the advantages, disadvantages and prices for each of the summer season.

1. Off-season: May and October

Advantages:

These months are the best if you don’t like crowded places, big groups of tourist and you are just seeking for your own peace of quite in a coastal paradise. This is perfect time to relax and unwind.

  • Also, this is a great time to cruise if you are adventurist at heart who likes to explore historic towns, cycling or for example hiking up the glorious mountains in search for best panoramic views.
  • This season in general is very good for all sports enthusiasts out there or for seniors that are not too keen on swimming and too high temperatures.

The most amazing gulets in May & October are the most affordable price! You’ll save your money! Naturally, since your budget will be bigger you can, for example, invest it in best quality food on deck. Food is always one of the nice things on gulets.

Disadvantages:

  • These months are colder, especially sea temperature, so if you had dreams of swimming in perfect temperature crystal clear sea, then you should consider booking some other month. Temperatures go from around 20 to 25 degrees Celsius and the sea will be less than 20°C. P.S. if you usually like cold showers then nobody will stop you from jumping into the cold sea.
  • May and October are usually not preferred by families with children or party groups of young people looking for a perfect summer holiday. Not saying you can’t have fun but there are not so many things going on as in high season.

2. High-season July, August

Advantages:

These months are in the high season and are the best bet for those who want to enjoy in endless sun and swimming in beautiful clear sea.

  • Best time to do a big range of water sports, exploration of cities and being outdoors.
  • Very low chance of bad weather, and even if it does happen it won’t last the whole cruise. P.S. swimming in summer rain can also be a very fun experience!

This is the time when coastal cities, island and villages are most lively, full of fun events, parties, with a nice mix of locals and tourists. So one thing is guaranteed; you certainly won’t be bored!

Disadvantages:

This is without exaggeration the time when it’s the hottest weather! On some days especially around noon, the temperatures are very high so it’s recommended to wear SPF and stay in the shade.

  • Prices are highest! This is the most expensive time to cruise because as I’ve mentioned this is the time of the high season. That pretty much means it’s most crowded and prices are highest.
  • This is the most popular time to cruise so gulets get booked fast, early booking is important if you want to get the most for your money!

3. June, September: mid-season

Advantages:

This is the best month to cruise! It has a perfect combination of everything for everyone.

So if you want a perfect a mix of sunshine and slightly cooler temperature this is a great time to cruise for you! Temperatures in June and September vary from 25 up to 30 C. Nights on islands can be a bit chilly so you might consider bringing a light long sleeve shirt.

  • The sea temperate will slightly drop and get a bit fresh. However, you will still be able to jump into the crystal clear sea whenever you desire, catch the sun on the deck, and do any of water sports activities you want.
  • Prices are lower for these months; you can still get the good deals and very nice gulets. However, prices won’t be as low as in May and October since this is mid-season.

By going on these months you will avoid big crowds – however, there still will be some action going on in cities and on islands. When it comes to restaurants are bars you’ll get to see that they are getting busier, but you’ll still manage to find a place without reservation if you decide to be spontaneous.
