Do you need a license to drive a Jet-ski in Greece?

Water sports are a great way to pass your time on your cruising vacation.

We understand you like adrenaline and excitement, but your safety is our number one priority.

In Greece it is required that drivers of Personal watercraft must be over 16 years old and must hold a license. Keep in mind while driving your jet-ski you must:

  • keep the distance from shore of 300 meters,
  • Not exceed 3 knots within the port.

Since Greece is in the EU the laws are pretty strict, so the other option is somebody else to drive you around.

There are some places that jet-ski is not allowed, like Paros in Cyclades.

So it is always good to check this in advance, either with your sales expert or on the spot with the captain.

Some gulets in Greece have a jet-ski on board, while some have it on request only. Keep in mind that for jet skiing you need fuel. And all water activities where fuel is needed are extra to pay.

They charge either:

  • by the hour,
  • per usage, or
  • per day.

Need to be checked for your gulet separately.

Most of the gulets in Greece work with A.P.A. (Advanced, Provisional, Allowance), which can be from 7.000€ to 30% of your charter fee. A.P.A. covers all your extras, such as:

  • Food,
  • Beverages,
  • Private ports,
  • Activities where fuel is needed.

If you exceed the money in A.P.A., you add an extra amount during your cruise. If money is left over, you receive your money back at the end of your cruise.

If you are really into a jet-ski and you want to have it on board, you can rent it as well for the whole week. Or just mention it to your sales expert and he will find the right gulet for you.
