How is the cell coverage in Croatia while sailing?

The cell coverage in Croatia is very good even around the sailing islands.

Croatia uses a 900/1800 GSM frequency band but you can also use UMTS (2100 – 3G) and also LTE (4G).

There are 3 main cell providers in Croatia.

  • A1
  • T-Mobile
  • TELE2

Together they have around 80% of cell coverage in Croatia. All the main parts of Croatia are covered. Because of that, you won’t have problems getting a good network connection.

ISLANDS OF KORNATI

Croatian cell companies have provided good cell coverage also around the islands in Dalmatia where the main routes are for gulet cruising. The only problems with connectivity is around National parks. You can expect to have bad connections around:

In July 2013 Croatia became a full member of the European Union. So if you use a cell number that is registered in some other EU country you don’t have expensive roaming or it can be already included in your call package.

In the parts where our cruising routes are suggested, you can expect good cell connectivity, but if you wish to cruise to some open waters or have some long sailing expectations you need to understand that the cell coverage will be bad.

PAKLENI ISLANDS

DALMATINO

We suggest you to express that to your personal sales person and he can address you with some advice on how to solve your cell connectivity.

He will gladly suggest you with the options that are best for YOU and YOUR GROUP.

To avoid large roaming expenses we strongly advise you:

If you don’t have a cell number that is registered in the EU, we advise that you BUY A PREPAID PHONE or SIM CARD.

All of the cell providers in Croatia offer them and they are not expensive (regarding the roaming costs you could have). It’s a better solution than in the end getting a bill that will be bigger than a new prepaid phone.
